A note about this image from Birmingham-based artist Linda Jane Smith - Knitting is back in fashion again; though in our family it never went away! My Mum knitted cardigans, pullovers, and gloves for all of us, and even made knitted cakes! I love patterns from the 1950's and 60's of men in balaclavas and women in swimsuits that usually doubled in size when immersed in the sea; knitting shop windows with adverts for ""Robin Wools"", and tiny Sindy clothes pinned onto a peg board!
